professional practice i

Mr. Ramar Subramaniam is my professional practice I module's (QSB 2615) lecturer. This module covers introduction and overview of the construction industry, role of a quantity surveyor, introduction, tendering methods and documentations, tender process and procedure, procurement, forms of contract and contract documentation, commencement, postponement and completion, performance bond, insurances, extension of time (EOT), damages for non-completion, variations, provisional and prime cost sum, certificates and payments and claims.

 

Through this module, I had learnt more about role and scope of work of a quantity surveyor. There are two types of quantity surveyor. One of them is contractor quantity surveyor and another is consultant quantity surveyor.

Cecilia Tie and I owned a quantity surveying firm and we had been appointed to provide advice on the procurement system and the tendering methods that are to be adopted in carrying out the project. This project is carried out by Taylor's University. Taylor's University is considering to build a multi-storey car park building in the vicinity of the campus to overcome the serious shortage of car park space.
