Sr. Loo Seong King is my value management module's (QSB 4215) lecturer. This is a 4 credit hours module. Through this module, I had learned the history, background, theories, concepts and principles of value engineering / value management in decision making process. I had learned the idea of unnecessary cost and cost cutting exercise in the cost planning and control stage. It is then generally covers area of implementation of value engineering and the key person involved – the facilitator. It concludes with a series of discussion on the problem and constraint in the implementation stage based on some significant case studies.

I'm able to:

• Understand in general the value process, function analysis and team dynamics in the client’s value system

• Identify solutions to undertake value studies at different stage of a project.

• Recommend a more collaborative effort towards the promotion and awareness of value management in Malaysian construction industry in an effort to achieve value for money invested

DE & BE Workshop

We were requested by Mr. Loo to form in a group with 8 members. We had to prepare a building project with drawings and apply the value management study on the project. A report had been produced by us and we presented our report after VM study to Mr. Loo. We had to explain the chosen VM study techniques of the building project.

Through this assignment, I'm able to apply what I had learned during lecture in this assignment. I had an in-depth knowledge about the value management tools and how to produce a cost data after VM study.
