My building materials module(BLD62003) is lectured by Puan Hasmanira Mokhtar. I've learnt various types of building materials which are used in current construction practice and their characteristics.
Assignment 1a:
Title : Research on Building Material - CONCRETE
Objective : To create an understanding in students of the particular material and it application in building and choices designers make in choosing building materials based on their properties.
Learning Outcomes : I will able to recognise and recall types and properties of selected material. I will able to explain the physical and chemical properties of concrete.
Our group chose to do the defects of concrete and environmental impacts. My part was environmental impacts. I did a lot of research when doing the assignment. I've learnt a lot of environmental impacts of concrete and how to prevent it.
Formation of acid rain because of emission of sodium dioxide and nitrous oxide.
Assignment 1b:
Title : Paint
Objective : To identify the different properties of different paint.
After doing this assignment, I knew that Chemical Resistance Paint is more expensive than Anti Fungal Paint. I've learnt the properties and characteristics between this two different paint

Title : Site research report and presentation board
Objective :To introduce various types of building materials those are used in current construction practice.
Learning Outsomes : I will able to describe the general use of different materials in construction. Moreover, I will able to explain the effect of building materials on construction and structural qualities.
This assignment is to be carried out in group of 4-5 students per group. We are required to analyse the chosen building/area and submit a report. We are required to identify the function of the building and then study about the existing types of materials in the building. This assignment should cover the building materials such as Timber/timber based products, Cements and concrete, Metals, Bricks,Plastics, Plasters and Gypsum, Paints, Glass, Stone, Rubber & Ceramic.
Our group chose library as our researched building.
