Measurement I

Sr. Ang Fuey Lin is my Measurement I modules's(QSB6014) lecturer. Through this module, I've learnt a lot of calculations of foundation, excatvation, formwork, concrete, brickwall, reinforcement bars and stirrups. There are useful for my future job as a Quantity Surveyor.

Malaysian Standard Method of Measurment of Building Works Second Edition (SMM 2) is used for this module. SMM 2 provides a uniform basis for measuring building works and embodies the essentials of good practice but more detailed information than is demanded by this document should be gven where necessary in order to define the precise nature and extent of the required work. The Standard Method shall apply equally to the measurement of proposedworks and of executed.

Construction site visit

A site visit trip was organized by Sr. Ang Fuey Lin on 20th June 2014. It was an interested trip and good experience for me. Through construction site visit trip,I've learnt a lot of information which i can't find in book. In addition, I've learnt to understand the basics of construction process and exposure to actual working environment on site including uncertainty circumstances. Besides, I can explore and identify various types of building materials and technology on site after the construction site visit.

Assignment 2

This assignment was given by Sr. Ang Fuey Lin. It is a 5-storey hostel. We are required to prepare a COMPLETE TAKING-OFF for pilecaps including excavations from reduce level, work below ground floor level including site clearance and excavation, ground floor slab, ground beams and apron slab, first floor slab and beams, roof slab and roof beams & columns stumps, columns and stiffeners.

Learning outcomes

I will able to interpret clauses in the Standard Method of Measurement (SMM) for the various trades in relation to sub-structure and reinforced concrete frame works. I will able to generate a conceptual understanding of and the ability to competently carry out the preparation of the Bills of Quantities for sub-structure and reinforced concrete frame works.
